Story Posted: September 04, 2010 SaskCanola Initiates Changes to Election Regulations The Board of SaskCanola has requested that Agri-Food Council allow the Commission to increase the number of directors on the board and to allow for elections every second year. Currently the board is composed of 6 registered canola growers and two positions are up for election each year. Directors are currently allowed to serve three concurrent 3 year terms. After nine years a board member must take at least one year off prior to running for the board. Due to the work load and the cost of operating an election the board wishes to see the number of board members be allowed to increase to 8 and to reduce elections from annually to every second year (on even numbered years). If you wish to comment on these changes please do so by emailing SaskCanola (click to email SaskCanola) or by contacting us at our toll free number 1-877-241-7044 by October 29, 2010. Note: These changes would occur after the 2010 election.
